The Bernardo Winery has been producing San Diego-grown wines since 1889 and is a third-generation-owned local business. The winery offers guests a variety of experiences. including a wine tasting paired with delicate small bites, a sumptuous brunch, or the full Italian hospitality experience for lunch or dinner on the patio at The Kitchen restaurant.
The winery has more to see and taste than just wine — it also houses the Manzanita Roasting Coffee House and upscale boutiques and galleries in theVillage Shops.
This area is sometimes known as the Napa Valley of craft beer. Find a prime example of fine beer done right at the Karl Strauss Brewing Company, which offers a locally famous tasting room and beer garden.
Enjoy year-round access to the Rancho Bernardo Farmers Market, one of the oldest farmers markets in San Diego County and home to 30-40 vendors of fresh, organic produce.
Rancho Bernardo is also home to the mission-style luxury resort Rancho Bernardo Inn, which boasts more than 256 acres of stunning grounds, an 18-hole championship golf course, four exceptional dining spaces, and a full-service spa. Another championship golf course can be found at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo, a private equity club with a stunning 20,000 square-foot Mediterranean-style clubhouse. The club has provided excellent service and a home away from home for its members since 1967.
Things to Do
For lovers of the outdoors, Lake Hodges is a fully stocked favorite of fishermen that allows boating and offers access to 27 miles of scenic shoreline. The Rancho Bernardo Community Park features 40 acres of recreation space, including an indoor gymnasium, dog park, ball fields, tennis and basketball courts, a senior center, and a large gazebo. It also hosts many community events throughout the year.
The community offers a variety of annual events to get out and mingle with new friends and neighbors, including the annual Spirit of the Fourth festivities and parade. One of Rancho Bernardo’s most-enjoyed annual events is the RB! Alive Street Fair. Visitors can enjoy over 300 booths featuring food and products from local craftspeople, get to know the local business and community organizations, and explore the kids’ zone full of rides, attractions, and food. The fun doesn’t stop there — the community center also puts on historical reenactments, and the classic car show is a must-see.
